Linked Patrons service

a piece of honey cell

Linked Patrons is a library service that complements borrowing with an authorization.

Who is it for?
Primarily for parents, but families and neighbours who share an interest in reading and are among the readers of our library can also use Linked Patrons service.

How does it work?
Reader accounts are linked together in the lending program and this gives all readers in the same set the right to borrow books to each other's accounts.

E.g. the reader accounts of Tom and Meg and their children are connected for Linked Patrons service. Meg receives a message from the library that the requested book is waiting for her in the library, but unfortunately she is not able to pick it up. Tom will pick up the book and the requested book will be borrowed with Tom's card to Meg's account and given to Tom. Tom also stops by the children's literature department to borrow the books he needs for his children.

Important to know!
For the use of the service, the consent of all parties involved is needed, i.e. an application must be submitted, the form of which can be found here:
Application form for the Linked Patrons service to fill in with LibreOffice or to fill in with MSWord or to fill in by hand (pdf).
The application form can also be requested from the lending desk.

The signature of the parent or guardian is sufficient to link the reader records of minor children and wards. Digitally signed applications must be sent to laenutaja@luts.ee

Each person can participate in one set of Linked Patrons at a time.

Linked Patrons service DOES NOT INCLUDE the ESTER self-service environment of the e-catalog, i.e. that the linked patrons only see their own reader account and loans in My ESTER. If you renew your loan terms, the terms of the readers connected with you will not be automatically renewed. In order to renew the terms on linked accounts, a separate request must be made.

In the case of the Smart Locker , or the Lending Locker, the system does not allow the use of Linked Patrons service.

The reader to whose account the book was borrowed is responsible for the timely return.

To cancel the Linked Patrons service, it is sufficient to notify the library either verbally or by email.
