Reader with Special Needs

HOME SERVICE

 

Once a month, on Wednesdays or Thursdays, our library bus travels in the city of Tartu and delivers books and magazines to readers who have joined the home service.The service is free.

FOR WHOM? For those citizens of Tartu for whom visiting the library is temporarily or permanently difficult due to health condition.

WHERE TO BEGIN? Call the numbers 5302 1202 (Nadežda) or 736 1386 or send an e-mail to koduteenindus@luts.ee.

HOW? Those who subscribe to the service can order books themselves from the ESTER e-catalogue, or it is possible to place your order by e-mail or phone, or the librarian can also offer a selection of books and magazines.

A READER IN A WHEELCHAIR

 

How can a reader in a wheelchair get to the library?

The entire house is accessible to wheelchair users. There is an elevator in the house. Ramps lead to the non-fiction reading-room and technical literature reading-room. The toilets for disabled are located on the 2nd and 3rd floors. There is a paid parking lot behind the house (next to Vabaduse pst). The city library is located in the paid parking area A (15 min free), but the parking lot behind the building, or Magistri Street parking lot, is the B area parking lot (90 min free).

The entire house is accessible to wheelchair users, but the ramp at the front door is relatively steep and opening the door requires some strength. There is a toilet for the disabled in the building, the second floor is accessible by elevator. You can park your car in front of the house at the entrance. 

Tammelinna Branch (Suur kaar 56) Tel 746 1035
The first floor of the library can be accessed by wheelchair, there is a ramp at the front door. There is a toilet for the disabled in the library. On the first floor there are periodicals, children's literature and an internet point. Adult and youth literature is located on the second floor - the librarian will bring the desired books to the reader. You can park your car in front of the library.

The library is located on the II and III floors. Wheelchair users can access the reading room on the second floor from the first floor by elevator. On the second floor there is a reference fund, periodicals and an internet point. Literature for home loan is located on the 3rd floor - the librarian will bring the desired books to the reader. You can park your car in the parking lot on the second floor and from there you can get to the hall on the second floor of the library without using the elevator.

The library is located on the 1st floor. Wheelchair users can access the library via a ramp. The front door is equipped with an automatic opening system. You can park your car in front of the library. 

 

 SOUTH ESTONIAN ASSOCIATION OF THE BLIND

Is it possible and how can I borrow the audio books of the South Estonian Association of the Blind that are in the catalog of the Tartu City Library?

Books of the South Estonian Association of the Blind can be borrowed at the library of the South Estonian Association of the Blind, at 1 Ringtee St, 3rd floor, on Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., preferably to members of the association (as well as to other people with visual impairments or other disabilities that prevent them from reading plain text). 

Audio and braille books for lending have been entered into the e-catalog ESTER since 2004 until today, more than 2,700 copies by the Tartu City Library. More detailed information about the use of the e-catalogue and which copies are there can be found in the e-catalogue ESTER www.ester.ee
