The Estonian Music Library Association (EMLA) was founded in 1991 with the aim to establish and promote cooperation between music libraries and to support the interests of profession. Since 1994 it is the National Branch of the International Association of Music Libraries, Archives and Documenation Centres.

Present membership represents different types of music libraries: national and university library, music museum, libraries in music teaching institutions and public libraries as well as several individuals.

Activities of the Branch have mainly involved several continuing education courses and preparing cataloguing and indexing aids.
